About Me

Counsellor

Pauline McLoughlin

I was born and raised in Southport England, I have been married for over 36 years and have a grown-up family, including two grandchildren.14 years ago, I qualified as a person-centred counsellor. I was given the opportunity to work at a brain injury rehabilitation facility. I studied and experienced the effects of a brain injury on the individual and their loved ones. This led me to become involved with Headway for over 10 years. For 2 years I was involved with the Brain Injury Association of Illinois.

In 2017, I became a clinical case manager experiencing brain injury from a different perspective, enabling me to have a full understanding of all the stages following an Acquired Brain Injury, from hospital discharge, rehab and the litigation process. I feel privileged to have been accepted to join clients on their rehabilitation journey, which at times could be quite turbulent.

Over the past 14 years I have had many mentors and colleagues that have educated me and empowered me to believe I could make a difference. Not forgetting the experts by experience by that I mean the clients, families who trusted me and let me into their world.

I have a number of roles within my counselling service:
